Our Team of experienced healthcare practitioners and staff at Clifton Medical Practice are committed to providing quality family Medical Care. Our modern facility provides dedicated General Practice services as well as Specialists working hand in hand to deliver holistic patient care.
Dr Joanna Pappas
Dr Jo has been working at Clifton since 2015. She graduated in Medicine from Deakin University in 2011 and obtained her Fellowship in General Practice in 2017. She spent a year working in Paediatrics in Toowoomba and completed her Diploma of Children’s Health at the same time. Dr Jo also has post graduate qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dr Jo has an interest in all areas of medicine including small skin procedures. However, her special interest areas are paediatrics, women’s health and palliative care.
Dr Jo grew up on a grain property on the Darling Downs and went to boarding school in Toowoomba. She has a good understanding of rural life and the challenges people face. She has three young children and lives with her family on acreage halfway between Toowoomba and Clifton.
When she’s not at work you might find her running the back roads of the district training for her next event.
Dr Francisco Rodriguez
“Franco’ graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2009, after attaining a Bachelor of Science with first class honours in Mathematics and Physics.
He worked at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before moving to Cloncurry where he studied under the well-known rural General Practitioners, Drs Bryan Connor and Julie Verran.
He has been in Clifton since 2014 with no intention to move on.
Franco has a special interest in skin cancer surgery including head and neck lesions. He attended courses with the Australian College of Cutaneous Oncology (ACCO) under the famous Dr Anthony Dixon,
Other medical interests include cardiac rehabilitation, smoking cessation strategies (he was a pack a day smoker for many years before quitting himself), other minor surgical procedures such as steroid injections, ingrown toenails, diabetes, polypharmacy minimization, mental health and palliative care.
Franco lives with his wife Annie, an intensive care nurse at St Andrews Hospital Toowoomba. Other interests include astrophotography.
Dr Robert Marcok
Dr Rob joined the team at Clifton in 2014 and works with us on a part time basis.
In his spare time Dr Rob enjoys compound archery and has an interest in the stock market.
Dr Andrew Choo
Dr Andrew graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2011. He spent his first 2 years with the Western Sydney Local Health District, before moving to Queensland. He has been part of the team at Clifton Medical Practice since 2015, and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice in January 2018.
Dr Andrew enjoys all aspects of general practice. He finds it rewarding to be able to serve the local community, and also helps look after the residents in Clifton Nursing Home and Sunflower Lodge.
When not at work, he is usually at home spending quality time with his family. He is a big fan of sports, enjoys going for runs, watching movies and playing video games.
Dr Andrew is available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for appointments.
Dr Marc Heggart
Marc Heggart is a General Practice Registrar who has commenced work at Clifton Medical Practice in 2019. Marc graduated from the Australian National University in 2016 and has since worked at Albury and Woodonga Hospitals before finally returning to Queensland. He has completed a number of emergency medicine and intensive care courses and is looking forward to working in the local area.
Marc is also a member of the Australian Army, where he has served for over 20 years. He will be working part-time at the Practice when he is not working for the Australian Army.
Dr Desiree Tee
Dr Desiree grew up in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. She graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Medicine in 2012 and completed her internship and resident year at Greenslopes, Hervey Bay and Noosa Hospitals.
Dr Desiree started her FRACGP training in 2015 and joined the Clifton Medical Practice in 2016. She enjoys the wide variety of medicine that General Practice offers and loves that every day is never the same.
Dr Desiree is currently working part time at the practice. When not at work, she takes on the role of a stay at home mum to her daughter. She loves cooking and has a new found love of gardening.
Clifton Medical Practice is very fortunate to have Intern Doctors from the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service placed here on a 10 week full time rotation to experience General Practice Medicine. Each Intern will bring different experiences and will work closely with all residents of the Clifton Community Health Service and see patients in the Medical Practical under the supervision of our GP’s.
