GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Dr Francisco Rodriguez
“Franco’ graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2009, after attaining a Bachelor of Science with first class honours in Mathematics and Physics.
He worked at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before moving to Cloncurry where he studied under the well-known rural General Practitioners, Drs Bryan Connor and Julie Verran.
He has been in Clifton since 2014 with no intention to move on.
Franco has a special interest in skin cancer surgery including head and neck lesions. He attended courses with the Australian College of Cutaneous Oncology (ACCO) under the famous Dr Anthony Dixon,
Other medical interests include cardiac rehabilitation, smoking cessation strategies (he was a pack a day smoker for many years before quitting himself), other minor surgical procedures such as steroid injections, ingrown toenails, diabetes, polypharmacy minimization, mental health and palliative care.
Franco lives with his wife Annie, an intensive care nurse at St Andrews Hospital Toowoomba. Other interests include astrophotography.
GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Dr Joanna Pappas
Dr Jo has been working at Clifton since 2015 and after a two-year break has returned to CMP. She graduated in Medicine from Deakin University in 2011 and obtained her Fellowship in General Practice in 2017. She spent a year working in Paediatrics in Toowoomba and completed her Diploma of Children’s Health at the same time. Dr Jo also has post graduate qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dr Jo has an interest in all areas of medicine including small skin procedures. However, her special interest areas are paediatrics, women’s health and palliative care.
Dr Jo grew up on a grain property on the Darling Downs and went to boarding school in Toowoomba. She has a good understanding of rural life, and the challenges people face. She has four young children and lives with her family on acreage halfway between Toowoomba and Clifton.
When she’s not at work you might find her running the back roads of the district training for her next event.
GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Dr Fang-Wei Chen
Dr Fang Wei Chen is warmly welcomed to Clifton Medical Practice.
Dr Chen is our video health GP, providing health care to you from another location on a Friday. As the patient, you will still attend Clifton Medical Practice, you will still see a nurse, you will still see our admin team, you will still get your observations done such as temperature or blood pressure.
However, Dr Chen will be joining your consult via our state of the art, high tech, high definition and secure video health cart.
GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Dr Shahid Waheed
Dr Shahid Waheed completed his General Practice training in Queensland and obtained the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) in 2016. He also holds membership of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (MCFP). He is an Academic Senior Lecturer at Griffith University, Gold Coast. He is a StAMPS Examiner and Specialist Pathway Assessor for the Australasian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (AACRRM). He has worked at various Queensland hospitals and Monash Health in Melbourne, completing his Emergency Medicine training.
Dr Shahid is a passionate, skilled team-player, teacher and an enthusiastic Family Physician. He provides the up-to-date evidence-based medicine holistic healthcare to his patients for their physical and mental health, social, cultural and other clinical needs.
Dr Shahid likes to practice all aspects of general practice with special interest in acute care, asthma, cardiovascular risk management, diabetes, paediatrics, Implanon insertion and removal, minor procedures, preventive health and chronic disease management.
Dr Shahid will be joining us Mondays via video health, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the practice and Thursday's video health.
