GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Dr Santiago Monsalve
Dr Santiago ‘Santi’ was born and raised in Colombia in a family with a very strong rural connection and background. Dr Santi obtained his MBBS from the University of Antioquia, Colombia in 2011. Since then, he has worked in primary and tertiary hospitals within Australia and Colombia. After spending several years in registrar roles in ICU, Cardiology, Adult Medicine and Rural Medicine, he is now in his last year of fellowship training as a Rural Generalist with Advanced Skills in Adult Medicine. Dr Santi is close to completing a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care from the University of Sydney.
He volunteered during medical school to provide medical assistance to forcibly displaced farmers in Colombia by the local violent conflict who had to relocate due to safety concerns. This demonstrates his commitment and strong connection to rural communities who face similar challenges his grandparents did.
Besides his focus in Adult Medicine, Dr Santi has a special interest in Mental Health and is happy to see any person seeking some help in this area. Any other type of consultation is encouraged as he welcomes children, youngsters, and women with obstetric or gynaecological concerns.
Providing help and assistance to the Clifton community makes him very satisfied of his role within the community. He lives locally to Clifton and is excited to build a long-term clinical relationship with the Clifton community.
Intern Doctor
Clifton Medical Practice is very fortunate to have Intern Doctors from the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service placed here on a 10 week full time rotation to experience General Practice Medicine. Each Intern will bring different experiences and will work closely with all residents of the Clifton Community Health Service and see patients in the Medical Practical under the supervision of our GP’s.
